About PhotoGirl31

So, I'm 31.  I graduated from Photography school about 2 years ago...I was near the top of my class for the first time in my life and I thought my life was finally going to begin. I could start my career, finally get a place of my own, start a family, etc...But now I can't find work, I was laid off from a temporary position in November and have been looking for something since.  It just really sucks because right now I really need to make some money. My mom is sick, she has cancer. My Dad is sick too with diabetes.  And with my somewhat affordable yet utterly nutritionless diet of fast food, I'll no doubt be getting sick any time soon myself.

For the past 5 years or so I have been bouncing between houses.  One day I am living with my boyfriends parents, or I'm at my Dad's some days, or my Moms or Sister's other days.  My boyfriend also can't find work.  His parents and him don't get along and they don't want us to have to live here. They purposely try to make things difficult for us to live here...like by making sure there isn't food in the house we can eat, and leaving little, nasty notes around, etc.  Unfortunatly, we don't have any other place to live, so we just try to deal. It's really wearing on us both though.

It seems no matter how hard I work, it just gets worse. I don't know how much farther I can fall.  My credit is bad due to a debillitating illness I suffered at 18, I wasn't able to work for 2 years.  I was so hopeful when I got well, but it's depressing to see that I still can't afford my own place or start a family or to do any of the things I dreamed of doing while I was ill.  Now my Mom is sick I can't do a damn thing to help, because half the time I can't even afford to drive over and visit her.

I used to believe in Karma, like if you work hard, treat people right, then good things will come your way.  Now I don't know what to believe.

About chrisbarrettpic

I am writing in hopes someone really does see this and says, "why not?"

I am an unemployed not "unemployable" father of soon to be 2 and husband for 10 strong years. We have always put ourselves third and I have amongst losing 3 teeth, have several other conditions I am working with, even though most of family does not know.

I am a creative photographer/artist that recently latched onto helping small businesses work with social media to help their businesses stay relevant in the days of corporate coffee shops and big box garden and hardware stores.  But my love has always been art and namely photography. If you take a look at some of my work, please let me know if you would like to buy. I do not need a handout, I just need to "start" my photography career so I can help provide for family again. I do not collect unemployment, so that is not even in my vocabulary.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Chris Barrett

About boyscoutgirlscout

Hello, I am a talented artist and photographer with amyloidosis and have been searching for over 4 years for employment.  My husband is also disabled and a woodworker and blacksmith.  8 years ago if you had told either one of us that we would be in such a desperate situation, I would not have believed you.   My husband was injured on the job a few years ago and then sent back to work after his 8 weeks on work comp and therapy.  He did not feel he was ready to go back to work, but work comp said he was back to 100%, so they sent him back.  He then went camping with his Boy Scout Troop and his back started to bother him again.  He came home on Sunday night unable to walk.  His company said that the camping trip injured his back, so no comp, no disability, nothing.

He did finally get SSI last year.  My disease has been progressing and I am without health insurance.  I also know that there is not a cure for amyloidosis, so I am trying to do all that I can for as long as I can.  In a nutshell amyloidosis is a protein in your system that deposits in your joints causing server arthritis and physically displays as large red bumps on your face and neck.  I was never a beautiful woman and this has made it worse.

Unfortunately I cannot even get a job at McDonalds or even Wal-mart because I am unable to stand for long lengths of time and the disease has affected my appearance greatly.

To make things worse, my digital camera died, so I cannot even pick up any money freelancing.  I do have a small business that I have been running at art shows, but the price of gas has made it impossible to go to the shows, and the ones that we have done the sales are not even enough to make up for vendor fee.

What I really would love is to sell my jewelry, like $10,000 or so, I really, really enjoy sculpting and photography and want to be successful at it.

We are going to be losing our home, and with our disabilities and our dogs, we do not know where we will go.  If anyone can help us our monetarily, we would greatly appreciate it.  We are both Christians and will keep you in our prayers.
